Healthy Families Project is a family-to-family service and support program that provides assistance to families in Lancaster County, and throughout the Region-V area in Nebraska.
Our Mission
The mission and purpose of Healthy Families Project (HFP) is to support families with youth who have behavior, emotional or substance abuse issues, or are in or at risk of involvement in the Child Welfare System. HFP was developed by family members who have experienced similar situations and have felt a lack of support and understanding. In an effort to make positive changes for families, HFP has developed a central family network. HFP partners with families and professionals to build and extend services together in a mentoring relationship.
Our Goals
- To help families find community resources and supports
- To provide supports to families in areas where gaps now exist in community services.
- To help families foster wraparound and extend it into the community.
- To connect families with other families who have experienced similar situations.
- To increase the efficiency with which information and services are dispensed to familes.
- To reduce the level of frustration and anxiety families experience when they are trying to locate services.
- To help families involved with the community system to have a positive experience.
- To bring positive change to the interaction between families and the system.
Our Philisophy
We honor the individual diversity and cultures of families and understand the right of all families to be treated with respect. We feel that families are best able to support one another and solve problems when their environment is respectful and compassionate. We believe that when families are supported without judgment or criticism, they will overcome their hurt and fear and work together to help one another. When families along with the service systems promote healthy families, they will together build a better and more effective system of care for all families.
